Edificio Gas Natural - Mare Nostrum

Historia: La zona donde se construye la sede de Gas Natural, es donde tuvo lugar la primera empresa de la compañía en España hace ya 160 años. El diseño del edificio ganó el concurso de ideas, convocado por la compañía Gas Natural y ha pasado a formar parte del skyline de la ciudad. Miralles arquitecto del proyecto ganador, seguia la línea de la arquitectura híbrida deconstructiva postmoderna, de la cual él era pionero en España. Fue un arquitecto muy innovador gráficamente, reinterpreta las formas, combina diferentes vidrios y se inventa las reglas del juego.

The place where is built the Gas Natural headquarters, is where took place the first company of Gas Natural in Spain 160 years ago. The building won the ideas competition, organized by Gas Natural and it has become part of the Barcelona skyline. Miralles, who won the competition, offered a project that follows the hybrid deconstructive postmodern architecture, which he was pioneer in Spain. Miralles was a very innovative graphically, reinterpreting forms, mixing different glasses and  reinventing the game rules.

Descripción: La Torre de Gas Natural o Mare Nostrum, consta de un total de 4 edificios muy diferentes entre ellos con una estructura muy potente. La torre se adapta al entorno urbano donde se ubica y a la estetica de los nuevos edificios de Barcelona. Estética muy innovadora que construye una fachada muy espectacular sin la necesidad de añadir nuevos conceptos o nuevos materiales. El edificio son 4 núcleos adjuntos de hormigón macizo, los cuales están recubiertos de vidrio de diferentes tonalidades, entre los que encontramos el color gris, azul y amarillo, lo que ofrece un juego suave de diferentes tonos y luces.  Pero lo que hace destacar realmente a este edificio por encima del resto, es la edificación conocida con el nombre de Portaaviones, que deviene un adjunto volatil que se desprende del edificio vertical y simula un bloque de viviendas. Según los arquitectos responsables de la obra, el edificio quiere evocar o representar un conjunto de rocas desordenades situades al lado del mar. 

The Gas Natural Tour also known as Mare Nostrum has a total of 4 buildings very different between them with a potent structure. The tour adapts to the urban environment where it is located and the new buildings aesthetic of Barcelona. It has an innovative aesthetic that built an stunning facade without the necessity of adding new concepts or materials. The building has 4 attachments cores made by solid concrete, which are covered with diferent color glasses such as the gray, yellow or blue tone that offers a game of soft lights and tones. But what really stands out of the building, it's the edification known as a "Portaaviones" that means aircraft carrier and is like a volatile adjacent building that seems it is detached from the main building and simulate a block of flats. According to the architects, the building wants to express or represent a disordered set of rocks near the sea.
